You can support us in many different ways:
You can pray for us and for our work: We will be greatly strengthened by your prayers
You can promote vocations to the Society of Jesus: If you know of any young man who may be interested in becoming a priest, please put him in touch with our vocation promoter. His details are available on this website.
You can offer us your time and talent: If you wish to serve as a volunteer for a few months or even a year, you are most welcome. You could use your time and talents to make a difference to people in the Northeast of India. You will surely be transformed by the end of your experience.
You can help in formation of young Jesuits: Jesuit formation aims at preparing priests and brothers who are well educated and have the skills to serve in diverse and in a changing environment. Today it costs us close to Rupees one lakh per year to train a young Jesuit. You could adopt one of our young seminarians by bearing a part of the cost of his formation.
Caring for the aged Jesuits: Many senior Jesuits have spent their early years serving in the most remote and difficult areas of Northeast India. As they approach the evening of their lives, they need medical care, which is very expensive. It costs us on an average Rupees two lakh a year for their medical expenses. You could support their care. They cared for others when they could; they need your care now.
Support Our Ministries:
Sponsorship Program: Many bright students from poorer families are keen on pursuing their higher studies, but do not have the funds to support them. You could sponsor their studies
Rs 250,000 (€3000/$3500) – Can help sponsor the professional training such as nursing or teacher training for a student (for a three year course)
Rs 175,000 (€2000/$2500) – Can help sponsor the college education of a student (for a three year course)
Rs 18,000 (€200/ $250) – Can help sponsor the school education of a student for a year.
Education-related Facilities: The Jesuits are trying to offer quality education but cannot do much because of lack of funds. If the schools can be provided with uninterrupted power supply, the children can be offered computer education. If they can be provided with a library, they can utilize their time to learn more. We can improve sanitation through rain water harvesting
Rs 20,000,000 (€ 230,000/$270,000) – Can help construct a high school in a remote village
Rs 7,500,000 (€86,000/$100,000) – Can help construct a boarding home for economically disadvantaged children
Rs 1,300,000 (€15,000/$17,500) – Can help set up a solar unit that can provide sufficient power for an entire school building
Rs 1,050,000 (€12,000/ $14,000) – Can help build a rain water harvesting tank to provide clean water for the children in one of our schools
Rs 700,000 (€ 8,000/$9500) - Can help set up a small computer center in one of our schools
Rs 450,000 (€ 5,000/ $6000) – Can help set up a small library to help kids develop their knowledge
Health Work: Many children in the Northeast of India die each year only because of the lack of adequate and immediate medical facilities.
You could help us with the purchase of medicines that can be provided free of cost at our health centers to economically disadvantaged families.
Rs 10,000,000 (€ 11,500/ $13,000) – Can help us purchase an ambulance to ferry the sick to the hospitals
Pastoral Work: Since the Northeast of India is predominantly Christian; there are a lot of pastoral needs.
Rs 1,500,000 (€ 17,500/ $ 20,000) – Can help us construct a small chapel for a Catholic community. The people will contribute their share in terms of labor and materials
Rs 150,000 (€ 1,700/ $ 2000) – Can help train a catechist
Rs 100,000 (€ 1,200/ $ 1,300) – Can help us organize youth or childrens’ programs for a parish
Social Work: The women in our self-help groups are very eager to become self-reliant. They could be helped with some income generating programs.
Rs 200,000 (€ 2,300/ $ 2,600) – Can provide a seed fund to the women in a self help group to start their own womens’ cooperative
Rs 10,000 (€ 120/ $130) – Can help a family enhance its income through the purchase of a pair of piglets.
